Bounding Main’s Dean Calin and Organic Arts, Ltd’s David HB Drake continue to develop the Maritime Music Directory International.  It is a central source for information about sea shanty bands and solo performers, festivals, band members and maritime music collections that have been recorded.  They recently hired a freelance WordPress specialist to complete the remaining details in preparation for the site’s hard launch.  Read the press release here!

Maritime Music Directory International

A song by Bounding Main was played in the first program for 2020 on Saturday, January 11 at 10:00 am Netherlands time. That’s six hours ahead of Central Standard Time in the United States, so you can listen live at 4:00 am! It is sometimes rebroadcast on Sundays at 10:00 pm, which is 4:00 pm CST! They have a guest book that they would like you to please sign – don’t be afraid to mention Bounding Main!
Program host, Max Thurmer (above, left) is a sailor and a member of shantychoir “The Vlaardingse Muiters” in his hometown. He has been working on broadcasting maritime music in the Netherlands since 1999. Bart Zandstra is the sound engineer to the program, is a webmaster in his spare time and is also a part of the same shantychoir.

Internet music podcast, “Scoundrel’s Inn” has been faithfully playing Bounding Main songs weekly. Following very much in the spirit of the retired “Bilgemunky Radio” podcast, this program features both maritime and “Pirate Core” songs from a variety of artists and genres. The program runs every Wednesday at 9:00 PM Central Standard Time, United States. Program host, Cap’n Jack Gonzo, puts together a well-balanced show that will have a little something to please fans of all of these musical styles with pleasant dialog in-between.
